What
then is spirituality in APH? We know it as an open-hearted, community -based approach
to finding our rightful place in relationship to ourselves, each other, our community
and the universe.
We realize that our individual spiritual quest for place and
purpose is fueled by a natural yearning for love and completion. It can open us
to something deep within, so deep inside us it's no longer "us," but something
universal, something god-like if not "God." In The Living Energy Universe,
the authors offer two God acronyms that speak to this: one is the Grand
Organizing Designer, and the other is the Giving Open
Designer.
Spirituality also involves the relationship between the inner
and outer person -- the human being --- in search of ways for living in balance with
the universe. In too many cases we've been brought up to feel that human concerns
are not "spiritual," causing us to experience a schism between spirituality and
sexuality, or science, intellect, finance, our social world, even family. In our
work at the Institute we widen the circle of what is spiritual to include everything
that makes us truly more alive--in the most feeling way. This aliveness
is visceral; it runs through our body like an electric current that is perfectly
grounded.
An
enlivened spirituality resides within each of us and in APH we respect how the
felt sense of the body guides us to discover our whole and natural nature. As
we embody this sense, we find activities that allow us to express our own unique
take on what is spiritual. That's where healing and holistic spirituality come
in. Holistic healing does not come from one direction, but from many at once.
We open to our wholeness and healing through choosing our way of life in a manner
that is inclusive yet selective, guilt-free but responsible, and integrated yet
grounded in self-evaluation. Including all of life in our spirituality makes us
available for the miracle of multi-dimensional healing.
When one speaks their truth in APH, they are adding a chapter
or verse to the scriptures of the heart that is the core of Authentic Process
Healing. They are experiencing growth in spiritual wisdom and strength just by
being their authentic selves. Through opening to who we truly are we experience
how, as one Native American expression puts it, we are all medicine for each other.
