People might be surprised to hear how much my client work with family outsiders involves somatic practice.

Nick Werber

This class is for you if

  • You’re feeling exhausted in your career, or you can see your field is about to change in ways you’re not looking forward to.
  • You want your work to feel more purposeful.
  • You’ve always been the listener or the helper in your life, and you’d like to offer that in a formal way.
  • You’re already a coach, therapist or helper and want somatic practices you can use with clients, especially in moments you might not think they would help.

In this class Nick will share

  • His path into this work, from touring musician to the corporate world to working as a somatic practitioner, and how unexpected it was.
  • How he knew he was ready to work with clients.
  • What somatic practice looks like with a client: working with how old stories keep someone in fight, flight, freeze or fawn, and why functional freeze and fawning come up so often.
  • How nervous system tools and Focalizing gave him confidence with clients, and helped him work through his own hangups about visibility.
  • Why this work makes sense now, with so many industries shifting in an AI driven world.
  • A few minutes at the end will be devoted to a training that Nick teaches in partnership with the Focalizing Institute, which trains and certifies new and existing helpers, healers, coaches, and therapists to support others in a trauma-informed manner.

Nick Werber

About Nick

Nick Werber is a Focalizing and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and serves as the director and lead trainer of The Focalizing Institute. He studied for nearly a decade under Dr. Michael Picucci, the originator of Focalizing, and has since trained hundreds of therapists, coaches, and helping professionals across more than 15 countries in the modality.

Before this work, Nick was a musician who worked in the corporate world. Today his writing and teaching explore what it takes to trust yourself after growing up in a family that repeatedly questioned your feelings, needs, or experience. He focuses on the experiences of black sheep, scapegoats, and family outsiders, and his perspective is shaped by years of helping people notice how those family expectations show up in their bodies, relationships, and everyday choices.

Nick is also the author and narrator of the Audible Original Born to Disrupt. His writing and videos have received more than 50 million views online, and his work has been featured by the Omega Institute, The Embodiment Conference, and the MyWellbeing Therapy Network.

Questions

Do I need prior experience?

No. The class is for anyone curious about offering somatic practice, whether you’re totally new to this field or already a coach or therapist. You are welcome here.

What will I learn in this class?

How somatic practice shows up in Nick’s client work, including how old stories can keep someone in fight, flight, freeze or fawn. How he moved from touring musician and the corporate world into this work, and how he knew he was ready. And what it takes to train in body-based tools and work with clients this way. There will be space for a very open Q&A section where people can ask questions and share their own process.

Will it be recorded?

Yes. Everyone who registers gets the recording by email afterward, so you can watch it in your own time.

Am I required to have my camera on or participate?

No. You can participate to whatever degree you want, which can mean joining with your camera off. You do not have to ask or answer questions if you don’t want to.
